Aaliyah Haughton became famous in 1994 when she released her debut album Age Ain't nothing but a number. She was only 15 at when the album was released and it was later renamed Gold. It was made as part of a group that was greatly influenced by R. Kelly and it brought her into the spotlight. In 1996, Jermaine and Timbaland came out with Aaliyah's sophomore album One In A Million. It featured If Your Girls Only Knew, the top-selling single. Aaliyah's second album, One in a Million was released in 1996. It contained the number-one hit single"If You Girl Only Knew. Aaliyah appeared alongside legendary Jet-Li, the famous martial artist in Romeo Must Die (2000), an action and romance film. She got this role following an interview with director Joel Silver at an awards ceremony. In 2002 she was part of the film vampire Queen of the Damned based on the Anne Rice book. The Matrix Sequels was her first appearance in The Matrix Sequels. She had also appeared on The Matrix Reloaded (2003) as well as The Matrix Revolutions (2007). She is also known as Aarti Magumdar for her stage name. Although her early career was filled with minor television and film roles, she gained more recognition in the latter half of 2000s. Some of her most notable roles include Grey's Anatomy, Suits and Leverage. The commercials she has done have been for major brands, such as Volvo. She lives in Los Angeles where she continues to perform as an actress.
